| About Us |
Historical origin and development: the School of Physics and Material Science of Anhui University was individually founded in 2003, based on the former Department of Physics. The Department of Physics was founded in 1928. Since rebuilt at Hefei in 1958, the school has educated more than 140 graduated postgraduates, 5000 graduated undergraduates and 1000 Adult Education graduates for the Nation.
The Department of Electronic (three professions of undergraduate courses at present: Communication Engineering, Electric Information Engineering and Microminiture Electronics ) and the Department of Automatic (three professions of undergraduate courses at present: Automatic, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Test Control Technology and Instrument) are all based on the former department of Physics. Now, these two departments have been combined to establish the School of Electrical Sciences and Technology. Traffic Distinction of Anhui University (now renamed as Anhui Communication Vocational and Technical College) was initially depended on the Department of Physics and developed gradually.
Profession location: there are three departments and one teaching section: the Department of Physics, the Department of Materials, the Department of Photoelectric Information, and teaching section of fundamental physics. There are five undergraduate professions in our college: Theory of Physics, Theory of Practical Physics, Material Physics, Electronic Science and Technology, and Science and Technology of Optical Information. The total number of the undergraduates is 1450. There are two Master programs of first class discipline: Theory of Physics (including eight secondary disciplines), Material Science and Technology (including three secondary disciplines). The professions soliciting students now are: Theoretical Physics, Theory of Optical, Atomic and Molecular Physics, Coagulate Physics, Material Physics and Chemistry, Theory of Material. There are three PhD programs: Material Physics and Chemistry, Electromagnetic and Microwave Technologies, Theory of Physical Electronics. There are 154 masters and doctors of the school. Now there are two key provincial disciplines: Theoretical Physics, Material Physics and Chemistry.
Teachers Capacity: The school boasts a qualified faculty of 88 employers, including 16 professors (Six of them are doctoral tutors), vice-professors (including advanced experiment teachers and so on); 22 teachers with doctorates, 17 teachers studying with work for doctor degree. Most of the young teachers have the degree of Master or above. There are 10 professors enjoy the “Governmental Special Allowance” of Department of State, two new century excellent talented persons of Ministry of Education, seven reserved choices of academic and technology leaders of Anhui province, two Academic Elite Talents from Universities in Anhui Province, six Anhui Key Teachers of Youth, and eight Key Teachers of Youth in Anhui University.
Student Education: Our College is continuously deepening the reformation of education and pedagogy, enforcing the development of discipline profession and backbone course, mercilessly scratching the development of educational climate, and the quantity of the pedagogy is increasing steadily. In the early 1980s, there were four students successively passed in the CUSPEA examination presided by Pro. Li Zhengdao, the famous Physicist, who is one of the gainers of Nobel Prize, and went to study in U.S.A to get master or PhD degree. At present, there are over 100 graduates studying or working abroad. Every recent year, about 50% of the undergraduates in the average passed in the examination of master, the rate of the recruiting is continuously coming out in front in our university, and most of them are recruited by famous brand universities and scientific academies; over 60% of the masters pass in the examination of PhD. In recent years, employment rate of graduates are all above 95%, and over 50% of the graduates are working at tertiary colleges or scientific academy. Our College is evaluated as advanced work group of student employment.
Constructions of laboratory: There are three provincial key laboratories in the college. Key Laboratory of Ministry of Education built by the Province and Ministry together—key laboratory of Photoelectric Information Acquisition and Control, key laboratory of Anhui Province--key laboratory of Information Materials and Device, Demonstrative Center of Fundamental Physics experimental courses of Anhui Province. Laboratory of Fundamental Physics, Laboratory of Modern Physics, Laboratory of Photoelectric Information Profession, Laboratory of Material Physics Profession, Multimedia Demonstrate Laboratory, Laboratory of Light Wave Guide, Laboratory of Computer Physics, Workstation (computer engine room) of Theoretical Physics, Workstation (computer engine room) of Material Sciences and Engineering Discipline, Workstation (computer engine room) of Optical Discipline, key laboratory of Structural Physics and New Materials, Magnetic Materials R&D Center of Anhui University are also well built here . The total area of the laboratory is 7200 square meters, and the total value of the devices and equipment is over 20,000,000 RMB(Chinese Yuan).
Scientific research: during the period of “Ninth Five-year Plan” and “Tenth Five-year Plan”, our college undertook nearly 90 items of scientific research, including the National Natural Science Foundation, key subjects to be tackled of the provincial “Ninth Five-year Plan”& “Tenth Five-year Plan”, key subjects of provincial Sciences Committee and Provincial Natural Sciences Fund, acquiring over 10,000,000 RMB of the scientific research current expenditure. 15 items of the scientific pay-off have achieved provincial praises; one item has achieved the technological creative award by the Service of Technological Development United Nations; three of the teaching fruit have achieved the accessit of provincial excellent teaching fruit; one item of the scientific pay-off has achieved provincial excellent teaching fruit. Seven sections of monograph have been published and 500 articles of learned essays have been released on the domestic and overseas publications among which 200 articles have been registered by the SCI and EI in the latest five years.
Academic exchange: Our College progressively developed the domestic and foreign academic exchange and cooperation, established close connection with domestic and foreign high colleges and scientific institutes, and generating certain effect. Nowadays, the communication relationship has been built up with several universities and scientific institutes of U.S.A, U.K, Italy, Japan, and Australia, and also with the International Theoretical Physics Center. Tens of schoolmasters have visit, taught, carried on further studies, and studied for degrees abroad; six foreign scholars have been invited to teach here in our college; and 6 times of National academic meetings have been successfully hold. Five sessions of Theoretical Physical professional and Chemistry professional master postgraduates have been co-educated with Saitama University in Japan, doctoral postgraduates are co-educated with China Technological University and Shang Hai Silicic Acid Research Institute of China Science Academy, and now master postgraduates are co-educated with Physical Research Institute of China Sciences Academy, National Astronomical Observatory, High-energy Physical Research Institute, and Saitama University in Japan. Several professors are invited as part-time professors or visiting professors of some institutes such as China Academy of Sciences, China Technology University, and Hefei Industry University. Tens of professors are holding the posts of leadership (such as director, general secretary, and director-general) of National or Provincial institutes and investigative associations. One professor is assuming the special consultant of the consultative committee of the provincial government. Our College is the link entity of the Physical Academy of Anhui Province and the Appearance Academy of Anhui Province.
